A brief guide to choosing the best life jacket
Fit is king
Look for a fit that's snug without restricting your movement. We suggest starting with your normal t-shirt size and if in doubt, go up one.
Remember, we're happy to facilitate an exchange for size if you don't nail it the first time!
Know your type
Life jackets have different ratings (PFD Types). At a minimum you should be looking for a PFD Type 3, or L50S, for towed watersports.
In some situations, higher PFD ratings are required. Be sure to check local life jacket regulations before buying.
What's the use?
Give some consideration to the type of watersports you're doing.
For wakeboarding or waterskiing, you should focus on fit and flexibility. For Jet skiing, try to get something with a shorter cut, handles and even pockets.
Material matters
Life jackets come in two main types of materials.
Neoprene offers far more comfort and is recommended for when you'll be wearing your jacket for longer periods of time. Nylon life jackets are more stiff and course, but can be cheaper.
